Beat the Banana! 5k | London 17 May 2012

This five-kilometre fun run in aid of the World Cancer Research Fund (WCRF UK) sees participants chasing a giant banana through London’s Hyde Park in May during Cancer Prevention Week, with the aim of beating it across the finish line. The set-up emphasises the importance of a good diet and exercise in staying healthy.

RACE DAY – 25mins 44 an actual PB! lol. Out of the distances the 5k is the worse lol. As you don’t get time to warm to pace or to know to speed up. Proud of my mate JY who entered running in her stride and got her first time for the distance. Very proud.

JY and myself completed the fun run x

Who says people don’t have fun running. haha. A lovely sunny day in London’s Hyde park. Everyone very friendly with a very energetic warm up! More like combat training!

Finally caught up with our friendly banana! Lol x

Day Before – As I train for my Great North Run half marathon, I also have signed and registered for some fun in-between. Always had wanted to do this one. It is tomorrow I load up this page, as I want the main focus to be on the GNR post. My tee arrived 6 days ago. Bright yellow and it certainly will be part of my training. Always found my 5ks much harder as time goes so quick as pace is more intense for those who concentrate on only 5ks.

Doing a weather check for tomorrow as yesterday we had hail and storms! I usually don’t mind rain and every time I have a race it is 95% raining! lol.
